Jay-Z and Samsung are offering up freebies for fans - one million of them. The hip-hop star is teaming up with the tech giant to give away one-million copies of his upcoming new album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" before the album drops on July 4th. Industry analyst Krista Smith says the campaign is a win-win for everybody.
Jay-Z unveiled his album plans during an extended Samsung ad that ran during Game 5 of the NBA Finals Sunday night. The clip featured Jay-Z running through the creative process for his new album with hit producers such as Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin, later pointing fans to the website MagnaCartaHolyGrail.com.
Starting June 24th, fans will be able to download the album's mobile app on their smartphones. The first one-million Samsung Galaxy users to download the app will get a free copy of Jay's album 72-hours ahead of its July 4th release.
