The mother of the black, unarmed teenager who was shot and killed by police over the weekend called for peace, but rioting continued for a second night  Monday in Ferguson, Missouri, leading police to fire tear gas at the crowd.

According to Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson, officers worked on breaking up the crowd, which was smaller than Sunday night, but was reportedly firing at officers in some locations.

Prompting the civil unrest was the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown on Saturday afternoon. Witnesses have said he was unarmed, while police say he was shot after a struggle with a weapon in a police car. The FBI is investigating the case.
