RICHMOND, VIRGINIA BANS FIREARMS AT PUBLIC GATHERINGS

Recently, the Richmond City Council voted to put in a place a gun-banning policy on public property during any public events, including rallies, protests and marches. This comes in the wake of the fatal shootings in Kenosha, Wisconsin by 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who attended a protest inspired by the Jacob Blake shooting, and opened fire killing two. The ordinance is designed to lower the risk of violence between police and pedestrians and will be enforced for any events, whether or not it is formally permitted by the city, including those organized on streets, sidewalks and alleys.
