This is a good idea. We have to restore the public's trust in the police.
It's important to remember that there are good cops as well as bad cops.
If those police departments are doing the right thing, they have nothing to worry about.
On Monday the Justice Department announced that it has started an investigation into the Louisville, Kentucky, police department. This comes after one of the department's officers fatally shot unarmed Black woman Breonna Taylor last year in a raid that sparked anti-police protests around the country.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said the investigation will look into whether the police department uses unreasonable force on a regular basis on suspects and protesters and conducts unconstitutional searches.
This comes less than a week after a similar probe was launched in Minneapolis after ex-cop Derek Chauvin was found guilty of killing George Floyd. (Reuters)
