The former Minneapolis cop has just been sentenced to 22.5 years for the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. He was facing up to 30 years.

Chauvin did make a statement in today's (Friday) sentencing, expressing condolences but not offering an apology to the Floyd family. Multiple members of Floyd's family also spoke -- his seven-year-old daughter Gianna did so remotely. Chauvin's mother spoke, too.

Assuming good behavior, Chauvin will serve two-thirds of the sentence. He'll also get credit for time served. His legal team plans to appeal, but he's also facing federal civil rights charges. (USA Today)
