6 members of a Florida church died of Covid in 2 weeks, pastor says. On Sunday the church held a vaccination clinic
Brevard County resident Marquis Davis, who was only 28 years old when he died on July 26th, had stubbornly refused to get vaccinated, his wife Charnese Davis says. However, that changed after he was admitted to the hospital. "He said, ‘Bae, I’m going to get the vaccine when I get out of here,’” Davis says. "I was like, ‘Good, I’m so happy you said that.' But it’s too late. Don’t wait too late. Get it now, get it while you can.”
To help people get it while they can, Davis talked to community leaders and arranged for her husband's funeral at Faith Temple Christian Center -- which was held on Friday and Saturday -- to be transformed into a mass vaccination site. They also offered free testing at the funeral. "Our position as a church is let’s get this cut; let's do this," Faith Temple Pastor Dr. R. Shaun Ferguson. "I don’t want to see another person lose their life, period.”
