IN BLANKSTARE NEWS: Is it OK to give animals as gifts?

A dad took to reddit’s “Am I the A-hole?” forum to complain that his sister, without telling him about it, bought his 7-year-old daughter two guinea pigs for her birthday. The guinea pigs were apparently not easy for them to take care of (there are two other kids in the home as well as a cat), and the dad gave them away, which he says his sister sees as a betrayal. The dad gave the guinea pigs to a friend who was experienced with the animals, and he says his daughter gets to visit them. But his sister is still angry with him. The majority of comments were in support of the dad, saying it is not OK to give pets as gifts. (In the Know)
