GEORGE FLOYD: Officer Derek Chauvin Convicted of Murder

Chauvin was sentenced to 22-and-a-half years in prison. Three other officers will go on trial in March, 2022 on charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

The biggest trial of the year took place in Minneapolis where a jury found police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of murdering George Floyd.

44-year-old Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter for kneeling on Floyd's neck and restricting his breathing for over nine minutes during an arrest on May 25th, 2020. Chauvin was later sentenced to 22-and-a-half years in prison. Three other officers will go on trial in March, 2022 on charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
