They shouldn't have bothered with the show.

"Limp" could describe all awards shows.

Most people probably forgot the MTV Movie & TV Awards existed.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards went on without a host or any writers on Sunday.

The big winners were Scream VI (Best Movie), The Last of Us (Best Show), Tom Cruise (Best Performance in a Movie - Top Gun: Maverick), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Adam Sandler (Best Comedic Performance - Wednesday).

The telecast was hampered by the WGA strike, with Drew Barrymore dropping out as host just days before. Drew did show up in a few pre-taped bits, and the rest of the show was filled with best-of clips from previous telecasts.

The Kardashians won best docu-reality show, but the stars didn’t submit a video acceptance speech. Adam Sandler also didn’t make a recorded appearance for his best comedic performance award for Murder Mystery 2. Variety called it a "limp clip show."

Jennifer Coolidge, who received the Comedic Genius Award, addressed the strike in her taped acceptance speech, saying, “Almost all great comedy starts with great writers, and as a proud member of SAG, I stand here before you tonight side-by-side with my sisters and brothers from the WGA, who are fighting for the rights of artists everywhere."
