A former Playboy model claims she was raped by Bill Cosby more than 50 years ago, and because of a new California law which expands the statute of limitations, she has filed a civil lawsuit against the comedian.

Victoria Valentino claims in the lawsuit that she met Cosby in 1969 and was drugged and raped at his office. Valentino, now 80, says Cosby invited her and her roommate to dinner. At one point, he offered them a pill and said it would make then "all feel better." She recalls feeling unwell and asked to go home, but instead she says he took them to his office where she believes she passed out. She says when she woke up, Cosby raped her.

Cosby's spokesman Andrew Wyatt responded to the lawsuit in a statement denying the allegations of sexual misconduct and insisting that Valentino has no "proof or facts." He said, "What graveyard can Mr. Cosby visit, in order to dig up potential witnesses to testify on his behalf? America is continuing to see that this is a formula to make sure that no more Black Men in America accumulate the American Dream that was secured by Mr. Cosby.” Valentino fired back that her case is not about race, adding that Cosby “was an equal opportunity rapist and probably the most prolific serial rapist of the 20th century."

Cosby was convicted in 2018 for drugging and assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004. He was sentenced to three-to-10 years in prison and served more than two years before his conviction was overturned. (People
