Barbenheimer kicked butt at the weekend box office. Barbie, starring Margot Robbie, earned $155 million between Friday and Sunday, the biggest debut of the year. Director Christopher Nolan's historical drama Oppenheimer came in second with an impressive $80.5 million.

Barbenheimer kicked butt at the weekend box office. Barbie, starring Margot Robbie, earned $155 million between Friday and Sunday, the biggest debut of the year. Director Christopher Nolan's historical drama Oppenheimer came in second with an impressive $80.5 million.

The Barbenheimer craze fueled the biggest box office weekend of the pandemic era and the fourth-biggest overall weekend in history, according to Variety.

Sound of Freedom dropped from second to third with $20.1 million. The faith-based thriller has now earned $124.7 million.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One fell from first to fourth with $19.5 million, a 64% drop from last weekend.

And Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was fifth with $6.7 million.
