Dexter Scott King, MLK Jr.'s younger son, died this week from prostate cancer. He was 62.

His wife, Leah Weber King, said Dexter died peacefully in his sleep after battling "this terrible disease until the end." She said, "As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might."

Dexter was the third of Kings' four children and is survived by two of his siblings. Throughout his life, Dexter carried on the work of his father by working as an activist and as a chairman at the King Center. Dexter also played the role of his father for the movie The Rosa Parks Story

Dexter was 62 when he died, meaning he was only 7 years old in 1968 when his father, MLK Jr., was assassinated.

Dexter was named after Montgomery, Alabama's Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, where MLK Jr. was a pastor for several years. (CBS News)
