IN BLANKSTARE NEWS: Cheating on your spouse is never a great idea

For the record, since 1972, only 13 people have been charged with adultery, according to Lavine. Of those charged, only five were convicted and sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Cheating on your spouse is never a great idea … but, believe it or not, it's still an actual crime in 17 states, including New York, where the state government is working to take that law off the books. Democratic assembly member Charles Lavine believes that "the state has no business regulating consensual sexual behavior between adults" and has introduced legislation outlawing the law. The bill passed the assembly by a vote of 137-10 and now rests in the hands of the Senate, where it's not likely to face much opposition.

For the record, since 1972, only 13 people have been charged with adultery, according to Lavine. Of those charged, only five were convicted and sentenced to 90 days in jail.
