We’re learning new details about the real reason for Craig Mack’s passing, six years after the “Flava in Ya Ear” rapper’s death.

Rolling Stone reports that according to Mack’s death certificate, the '90s rap star died from HIV/AIDS, for which he “refused to seek treatment.” Rolling Stone notes that Mack’s family “honored his wishes and repeated his assertion that he had congestive heart failure.”

Family members also opened up to the media outlet about Mack’s relationship with the Overcome Ministry, an extremist religious group described as a "doomsday community" that reportedly discouraged him from pursuing traditional medical care. His brother, Andrew, says the Bad Boy rapper was “using the church as a shield to ward off the shadows of his past… I believe he was very much in denial, but that’s him living his truth to the end. I know that sounds really crazy, but you have to know him to understand that. As much as that bothers me, I understand why he did what he did. He lived his truth.”

Mack’s first wife, Roxanne Hill-Johnson blames Diddy “for being the “catalyst” to Mack’s downfall. She called him a “trigger,” and says point blank, “He [effed] my family up.”
