MEEK MILL: Sounds Off on “Bubblegum Rap”

The Philly star says he wants meaning over marketing in his rotation.

Meek Mill jumped on X to draw a line between disposable hits and the kind of records he actually plays. 

“That bubble gum rap… not gon’ work when that organic… hit them streets!” he wrote, adding that if a song has no meaning, he’s not listening, no matter how big the marketing budget.

He didn’t name names, but fans took “bubblegum” to mean catchy, pop-leaning rap with little substance. 

It’s just one of the latest in a long line of Meek’s recent stream-of-consciousness posts, where he’s asked about getting firearm licenses in every state and even floated the idea of having “two girlfriends” at home.
