The Bethel Church Presents: Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr. Golf Tournament

Deercreek Country Club

Monday, April 6 • 8:30 a.m. Deercreek Country Club.

In April 1966, Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr. began his pastoral leadership at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, dedicating 48 years to educating, inspiring, and strengthening the Jacksonville community. His legacy includes numerous outreach programs that extend far beyond the church walls.

One of his most impactful initiatives is B.E.S.T. (Bethel Enhancing Students Totally) Academy, founded in 1993 by his late wife, Estelle McKissick. The program has supported more than 3,000 Jacksonville youth with free tutoring, test preparation, mentorship, and scholarships.

Building on this foundation, Bethel is launching a new college‑focused outreach ministry: C.O.N.N.E.C.T. (Cultivating Opportunities to Nurture, Network and Engage Campus Ties). With many colleges and universities across Northeast Florida, the ministry aims to strengthen engagement, provide resources, and support young adults navigating both their educational and spiritual journeys.

Why This Event Matters

As more college‑age youth seek community at Bethel, barriers such as transportation, finances, and limited mentorship opportunities can hinder consistent involvement. C.O.N.N.E.C.T. is designed to bridge those gaps — and this inaugural golf tournament will help make that possible.

About the Tournament

Hosted in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Bishop McKissick, Sr.’s pastoral appointment, this event honors his legacy of service and supports the launch of the C.O.N.N.E.C.T. program.
