In the midst of the sexual assault and harassment allegations facing Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, Alyssa Milano launched the #MeToo social media movement on Sunday, encouraging people to respond ā€œme tooā€ to her original tweet about being a victim of sexual harassment. Since the launch of the hashtag, a number of notable celebrities have come forward to take part in the campaign and raise awareness, including Debra Messing, Rosario Dawson, America Ferrera and Lady Gaga.

Union, who was raped at the age of 19, also contributed to the #MeToo campaign and opened up about the movement on ā€œGood Morning America.ā€ During her candid interview, she said, ā€œIā€™ve been talking about being a sexual assault survivor for over two decades now. For twenty years, Iā€™ve been trying to tell my story as honestly as possible, with the goal of never having to hear ā€˜me tooā€™ ever again.ā€ The actress, who speaks openly about rape in her new book, ā€œWeā€™re Going To Need More Wine,ā€ went on to add, ā€œIt was so wild the other night to see ā€˜me tooā€™ trending, and when I first saw it, my arm went numb.ā€

The star continued, ā€œWhen I realized that hundreds of men and women were talking about being part of this unfortunate club, it just rips your heart out. I will continue to keep talking about it, I will continue to try keep educating. You see so much now, with victim blaming and victim shaming, and trying to say that thereā€™s some right way to deal with trauma. I just have to keep speaking out.ā€ Watch the ā€œGMAā€ interview below.
