This is not a drill.

The time has finally come — Tha Carter V is officially on the way! On Wednesday (September 12), Young Money released the cover art for Lil Wayne's highly anticipated album, Carter V. "🖐 Put them 5s up ‼️‼️‼️" the record label's official Twitter account captioned a photo of Wayne's palm with words "The World" written upside down on it. Following the tweet, outlets claimed Tha Carter V is set to drop on September 21 (Yes, THIS MONTH!).

As fans know, the album has been seven years in the making as it was held a number of times by Wayne's record label. In February, Birdman promised fans that they would get the album before the end of 2018. “We’ll get that this year,” he told Rap-Up. “I’m guaranteeing you gon’ get it this year.”

Tha Carter V announcement comes four months after Wayne was reportedly awarded "well over $10 million" in his suit against Birdman and Cash Money Records. The settlement followed the rappers' three-year legal battle with his former best friend and business associate. In 2015, Wayne sued Cash Money for $51 million, claiming the record label violated his contract, withholding his money after delaying his album, Tha Carter V, several times.

The lawsuit definitely impacted Birdman and Wayne's friendship, with both rappers taking shots at each other over the years. However, Birdman recently apologized for his part in their years-long feud during the Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans last month. “I wanted to apologize to my n**ga worldwide,” he told the crowd. “That n**ga put his life in my hands and I’m real with that n**ga, we gon’ do that s**t ’til the day we die. It’s YMCMB [Young Money Cash Money Billionaires] for death.”
