Lit Yoshi's new project contains some of the realest tracks he's ever made.

On Tuesday, November 8, the rising rapper opened up about what's going on in his life from the arrival of his new project Life Of An Ape to the legal struggles he's currently going through. His upcoming project, which drops everywhere on November 9, features new collaborations with Fredo Bang, BIG30, Pooh Shiesty, HotBoyDue, Seven7Hardaway and the late Lil Loaded.

"Self-explanatory," Yoshi said about the features on his project. "Them my brothers and right now it’s all about family. Maybe later I can get into bigger features. But all we got is us right now."

Lit Yoshi, born MeYoshi Edwards, began rapping for fun at age 18 but began to take it more seriously in 2019. He started to appear on songs with TBG's head huncho Fredo Bang two years ago and has been on the rise ever since. His song "Again" with Fredo earned him his first million views on YouTube and he quickly followed by with "Straight Facts," which is currently at 1.9 million. As he began to flourish as an artist, Yoshi joined forces with other artists like Trapland Pat, Blacksmoke and others. Now he's preparing to release the biggest project of his career all while he's sitting behind bars.

"I was on house arrest so the only thing to do was go to the studio and come back home so I spent a lot of my time in the studio," Yoshi said about making the album. "I want people to know who I am. I want people to know about me. I want people to know when they listen to me they’re listening to some real s**t. I want them to know I am the real deal. I’m not a fake."

Yoshi is currently incarcerated after he pleaded guilty to charges related to two separate gang-related shootings. According to WBRZ in Louisiana, he was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm following a shooting in 2019 and was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder and assault by a drive-by shooting that occurred in 2020. Back in July, the rapper was sentenced to 15 years at hard labor and three years of supervised parole. Yoshi said he's still fighting the case in court and is currently accepting all prayers while he handles his legal issues.

"Keep me in your prayers," Yoshi said. "I have more court dates coming. I’m back in court to make things right. This has helped me open my eyes to see what is real and what is fake around me. All we got is us god and God."

His new project is lead by two singles, "Turn Me Up (TMU)" and "Head Youngin" featuring HotBoyDue, which is Yoshi's current favorite so far. Life Of An Ape drops November 9. Listen to "TMU" below.
