(Miami, Fla) -- Goulds in South Miami-Dade is one of eight neighborhoods nationwide receiving federal grant money to update an aging HUD-assisted housing development.

The competitive "Choice Neighborhood" grant will be used to transform Cutler Manor Apartments into a new mixed-income community.

Miami Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava accepted the $40 million check and says that the grant will be used to build 400 new affordable housing units in Goulds.
