The nonprofit spearheaded by Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis is now expanding.
"Hope Florida now officially can announce that we have a liaison stationed in the sheriff's offices in every one of Florida's 67 counties."
Governor Ron DeSantis was with his wife at the state Capitol today to make the announcement. He says the liaisons will act as a point of contact between the sheriff's offices and Hope Florida and will distribute materials from the charitable organization within their office.
The governor says that over 115,000 Floridians have received assistance from 150 Hope navigators across the state.
DeSantis and his wife also say that the need for public assistance has been eliminated or reduced for 30-thousand people since Hope Florida launched in 2021.
Behind the pair were several members of the Florida Sheriff's Association.
After making the announcement, the governor answered questions about today's Florida congressional special elections.
Pundits say that Democrats are hoping that one of the elections could serve as a referendum on President Trump and his agenda.
While most believe that Republican state Senator Randy Fine will beat his Democrat opponent in District 6, Trump won that district by 30 points in November and Fine could "underperform."
But Governor Ron DeSantis says people should not buy into the media coverage of such a result.
"If there's an underperformance, they're going to say 'See, it shows the voters are rejecting Trump'...it has nothing to do with that." DeSantis says it would be a rejection of the specific candidate.
He points out that Fine is not from the district for which he is running and some Republicans may be sitting out the election.
As for the District 1 race, where Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis is running for the seat formerly held by Matt Gaetz, the governor says he's confident that Patronis will win. Both Patronis and Fine have Trump's endorsement.
