Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson is making her Broadway debut in the revival of ‘Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,’ directed by Debbie Allen.
The play, set in 1911, explores the experiences of Black Americans during the Great Migration. Henson describes the live theater experience as intense and engaging, emphasizing the immediate connection with the audience.
The production, which also stars Cedric the Entertainer, delves into themes of identity, displacement, and healing, offering a unique and unpredictable stage experience.
Henson views the opportunity to perform in an August Wilson play as a meaningful full-circle moment in her career.
