Jacksonville City Council members Katrina Brown (District 8) and Reginald "Reggie" A. Brown (District 10), have been indicted on 33 federal charges of mail and wire fraud according to our news partners News4Jax.
It appears that the charges all stem from issues with Katrina Brown's family business, Jerome Brown Barbecue, which she was co-owner of with her father, whom the business is named after.
Back in 2016 the restaurant was raided and shut down by the FBI, but most recently, the city of Jacksonville filed a lawsuit to collect over $300,000 from the company that was supposed to be used in support of creating more jobs.
Katrina Brown has also been in the news for not showing up to city council meetings regularly, but still collecting her pay.
The two council members are NOT related, however Reggie Brown was listed as a part of a business opened by Katrina Brown in which he opened bank accounts and signed documents for.
