Raincheck! Deadline for a Real ID Pushed Back To May 2023

My Drivers License Expires in 2022, so a girl was trying to get a head start and update it while waiting times are 2-3 months just to get into the DMV.

But the Department of Homeland Security is pushing the deadline for the need to have a REAL ID in order to travel from the previous October 2021 date to now May 2023.

In a statement from DHS, due to COVID-19 there are even longer waits for basic procedures to be done at DMV offices, so TSA will not require a REAL ID until May 2023, giving citizens ample time to get their new license or ID Card.

The new enforcement date is May 3, 2023.

Originally, REAL ID's were going to be enforced on October 1, 2020 - before the global pandemic happened.
