The University of Florida is a HUGE University with excellent athletics.
Seemed very random when their president decided to ban the Gator Bait cheer.
You might be confused as to why UF even decided this.
Apparently the Alligator Bait term derived from the Swamps of Florida and Louisianna. Alligator skin was seen as a luxury and White Americans wanted to trap the Gators. They would steal African American infants to use them as bait to lure the Gators. That became a racial slur between the 30's to 50's.
UF's president made a statement about the issue. The Swamp will feel VERY different whenever Collegiate Sports return.
