The risk of hydration and heat stroke are at their highest during the hot summer months. These are serious conditions that could have dire consequences. It is important to acknowledge the signs of dehydration and act swiftly.
These are the signs to be aware of:
1. Your skin is dry, irritated, or itchy.
2. Your skin is inflamed or sensitive.
3. You have a headache or feel dizzy.
4. Your brain feels “foggy” or lightheaded.
5. You feel fatigued.
6. You’re having muscle cramps.
7. You experience rapid breathing.
8. You have a loss of appetite.
9. You feel like fainting.
10. You cannot urinate, or, if your urine is dark yellow.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, get out of the sun and into a shady, cool area. Be sure to replenish your body with water right away. If you are not recovering from a severe case of dehydration, call 911 immediately.
