This storm is nothing to take for granted and this is not the time to be complacent. That is why I am declaring a State of Emergency for Duval County and activating the Emergency Operations Center, BOTH effective 12PM Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28th. The City Council will convene today to discuss the emergency declaration.

This storm is nothing to take for granted and this is not the time to be complacent. That is why I am declaring a State of Emergency for Duval County and activating the Emergency Operations Center, BOTH effective 12PM Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28th. The City Council will convene today to discuss the emergency declaration.

City offices will close to the public and non-essential personnel beginning at noon tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28th.

As of 5 p.m. tomorrow evening, we will open the Legends Center for anyone who needs emergency shelter. This is the only confirmed shelter as of today, but this could change as the storm approaches.

Duval County Public Schools will follow a special early release schedule on Wednesday. Schools and district offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for all areas of Duval County. Tropical Storm Force Winds are expected within the next 36 hours.

A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for coastal, low-lying, and flood-prone areas of Duval County. This means that dangerous flooding is expected within the next 36 hours.
