Hurricane Milton Leaves Florida with a Path of Destruction

(Miami, FL) -- The sun is revealing the storm battered Florida west coast. Milton made landfall last night as a powerful Category 3 hurricane just south of Sarasota, leaving at least four dead and millions without power. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says Hurricane Milton was significant but it's not a worst case scenario situation as it exited the state and headed out to the Atlantic. Search and rescue teams are going through the rubble.

DeSantis says there were 19 confirmed tornado touch downs due to the storm, but that number is expected to rise.

Onthe forecast track, the center of Milton will continue to move away from the east coast of Florida and pass north of the northwestern

Bahamas today.

Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Milton is forecast to become a powerful post-tropical storm

this afternoon or evening, with gradual weakening expected during the next several days.
