MOVIE THEATERS: Opening in NYC

Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Monday that theaters will be allowed to reopen at 25% capacity with no more than 50 people per screen.

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Unfortunately, the only movies to watch are The Croods 2 and Wonder Woman 1984.
  • We have a close-to-normal summer movie season. Fingers crossed.
  • Have people gotten used to watching new movies at home?

In a sign of things returning to normal, movie theaters will open in New York City on March 5th.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Monday that theaters will be allowed to reopen at 25% capacity with no more than 50 people per screen.

AMC Entertainment will reopen all 13 of our its locations on March 5th. CEO Adam Aron said, “Governor Cuomo’s announcement that movie theatres can reopen in New York City in the first week of March is another important step towards restoring the health of the movie theatre industry and of our company."

Theaters in New York City, which along with Los Angles is one of the nation’s two biggest movie markets, have remained shut for nearly a year.
