- This is like pouring gasoline on a fire.
- Police need to rethink their way of policing.
- We shouldn't jump to conclusion, but it seems we've heard this story before.
According to relatives of 20-year-old Daunte Wright, he drove for a short time before he was shot and crashed the vehicle. He died at the scene. Police say he was stopped for an outstanding warrant and was ordered out of his car, but he ignored officers' commands and attempted to drive away. An officer opened fire and shot Wright, but he was able to drive several block before crashing the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the car was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the shooting, protesters marched to the Brooklyn Center police station and faced off with cops in riot gear on Sunday night. Protesters chanted Wright's name and police ordered the crowd of approximately 500 to scatter. (StarTribune)
