Luke helped put Miami hip-hop on the map. He’s definitely deserving of this honor.
Luke’s influence goes way beyond his music. This is a man that went to the Supreme Court to defend the right of artists to be “As Nasty as They Wanna Be.”
The Rock Hall is still playing catch-up when it comes to hip-hop. Look at someone like LL Cool J, who was nominated multiple times before he was actually voted in.
The 2 Live Crew rapper feels like he was snubbed from this year’s class, which includes hip-hop pioneers like Jay-Z and LL Cool J. The Miami rapper wrote on Instagram, “[Damn], another year of not getting inducted to the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame.”
As an act that released its debut album in 1986, the group has been eligible for a little more than a decade at this point.
