So weird that he's about to release an album with such a family connection -- and wants to drop his last name.
Why not redecorate or get a new car or join the gym or something?
Ye has filed papers in L.A. to change his name legally -- to Ye. And according to TMZ, it's basically a rubber-stamp process. As long as he's not doing it to commit fraud or some other legal trick, the application will get approved.
There's no word on what prompted the change.
