Mariah Carey may want to wait before toasting the success of her new Black Irish liqueur -- because an Irish distillery says it has a trademark on that name.

The Darker Still Spirits Company registered the Black Irish trademark in Britain and the E.U. back in 2020, more than a year before Mimi launched her product online. Darker Still has been selling a whiskey under that name across the continent. Owner David Phelan says, "We launched the original Black Irish Whiskey brand in June 2020. It is a unique offering, named after, and created using, Ireland’s two most famous exports -- black stout and Irish whiskey."

Phelan is also questioning Mariah's right to sell her "Irish cream" liqueur in Ireland because of questions about where it's made. (FFT)
