TMZ reports that DaBaby met nine different HIV awareness organizations, including the Black AIDS Institute and GLAAD. The groups wanted to “call in” instead of “call out,” which in this case meant hosting a “thoughtful conversation” where the rapper could be enlightened by and learn from the stories of individuals living with the virus.
The groups say that he was “genuinely engaged” during the meeting and apologized for inaccurate and hurtful comments about HIV and its impact on Black and LBGTQ communities.
