In an exclusive interview with Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God, the rapper opened up about the November 5th crowd crush in Houston which left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. Travis, who is already facing hundreds of lawsuits, said he's been on "an emotional roller coaster" and denies having any idea people were dying during his performance. He insists he only found out during a press conference following his set. He says, “It’s so crazy because I’m that artist too — anytime you can hear something like that, you want to stop the show. You want to make sure fans get the proper attention they need. Anytime I could see anything like that, I did. I stopped it a couple times to just make sure everybody was OK. And I really just go off the fans’ energy as a collective — call and response. I just didn’t hear that.”
Charlamagne also asked about the aggressive crowds at his shows and whether it just got out of hand. Travis says, "this night was just like a regular show, it felt like to me, as far as the energy." He adds, "People didn’t show up there just to be harmful. People just showed up to have a good time and then something unfortunate happened and I think we really just got to figure out what that was." And he has a message for the families of the victims: "I’m always here, I’m in this with you guys and I love you.. and I understand you all are grieving. This isn’t a right now thing this is a forever thing. The people that listen to my music or come to my shows are family and that’s why it’s really hard on me.”
