AALIYAH: New Album This Month

The late singer's uncle dished on what features to expect on Unstoppable.

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

There's a fine line between protecting and building on an artist's legacy, and exploiting it.

Even if you're a superfan, something about these posthumous projects never feels quite right.

Aaliyah's third and final studio album was released in 2001.

Barry Hankerson -- Aaliyah’s uncle and the founder of Blackground Records -- says fans can expect the posthumous album Unstoppable before the month is over. He says, “About five years ago we realized we had quite a bit of music that we had never put out that was recorded by Aaliyah… The vocals were there, and we decided to try to remaster it and to ask other artists that were big fans of her if they would like to participate in being on various songs.”

In addition to the lead single “Poison” with The Weeknd, Hankerson is teasing other posthumous collabs including Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, Future and Chris Brown.
