A panel in the Texas court system approved the merger of lawsuits resulting from the Astroworld tragedy.
At least 387 suits have been filed against Travis Scott and the festival promoter, Live Nation. Those separate cases represent about 3000 victims seeking billions in damages.
The Texas Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation agreed with defense and prosecuting lawyers. The only way to streamline this legal mess is with one judge to preside over the pre-trial proceedings.
There’s anticipation of a large settlement based on recent history. The Las Vegas Strip mass shooting of 2017 involved 4400 relatives and victims. MGM resorts paid $800 million. (Billboard)
