  • Brady doesn't want to go out a loser. Remember, Tampa Bay was knocked out of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Rams, who bloodied his lip and went on to win the Super Bowl.
  • There was some talk that Brady would go back to New England so he could retire as a Patriot.
  • Brady was still a strong quarterback in 2021. It remains to be seen what he'll be able to do a year later in 2022.

Tom Brady has changed his mind. After announcing his retirement last month, the seven-time Super Bowl champ announced Sunday that he'll be back wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform for the NFL's 2022 season.

Brady wrote on Twitter, "These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”

The 44-year-old Brady announced that he was retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons on February 1st, after much speculation. At the time he wrote, "This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.” (The Washington Post)
