The jury today found that Heard had defamed the Pirates of the Caribbean star in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed and awarded him $15 million in damages.
The decision came after a six-week trial and three days of deliberations.
Heard was in the Fairfax, Virginia court on Wednesday, while Depp was in the U.K. this week with musician Jeff Beck.
Heard was awarded $2 million in damages after the jury found that one of Depp's lawyer's made a defamatory statement against her.
Depp had sued his ex for $50 million, while she counter-sued for $100 million after one of his lawyers called her abuse allegations a hoax.
In a statement, Heard said, “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words... I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women."
Depp said, "The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled... The best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun."
