The incident happened last week in Hartford, where surveillance footage shows the youth walking into a gas station, firing a gun into the air and demanding the money from the register. The clerk complied, handing over a bag that contained $5,000 in cash, according to the Hartford Police Department.
However, the pint-sized thief didn't get far with the money. Officers caught up with the boy -- who was still holding the gun and the bag -- just a few blocks away, police say. He told arresting officers he'd gotten the gun from his dad's locked safe, according to his arrest report. Prosecutors are currently deciding whether to charge him as an adult, they say.
