This need to have a purpose is more important to them than money. A survey of teens between the ages of 13 and 19 found that the careers they most want to pursue are medicine, social work, and “green” industries.

42% said they know they could make more money in another field but that is not their motivation.

47% said their friends share their views on the importance of making a difference with their career.

49% want a job that involves sustainability and helping the planet.

52% said a job in healthcare, software development, or renewable energy would make their career “futureproof.”
