An Ohio man is in the hospital after nearly losing his arm in a vicious zebra attack on Sunday.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a fenced-in property where a zebra had allegedly bitten off its owner's arm. When they arrived, they found the man lying on the ground and family members told them the zebra was out of control and attacked him. As deputies arrived, they saw the victim on the ground with his right arm covered. Deputies tried to treat the man while waiting for an ambulance, and also had to contend with the zebra which was still out of control and threatening to charge at them. They blew air horns to try and keep the zebra away, but it continued to charge at them and one of the deputies was ultimately given permission to put it down.
The man remains in the hospital, and despite a very bad bite, authorities say he will most likely not lose his arm. Animal experts say they believe the zebra was aggressive because it was protecting five or six other zebras on the property. (WCMH-TV)
