AMC Theatres Reopens Its Doors By Celebrating 100 Years Of Operations With "Movies In 2020 At 1920 Prices"

The Top 5 movies this weekend:

1. Insidious: The Red Door - $32.7 million

2. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - $26.5 million

3. Sound of Freedom - $18.2 million

4. Elemental - $9.6 million

5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - $8 million

Insidious: The Red Door beat expectations with a $32.6 million debut at the weekend box office, pushing Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny to number-two in its second week.

The fifth Insidious movie cost $16 million, while the fifth Indy movie cost a reported $295 million.

Sound of Freedom, a faith-based film about child sex trafficking, was a surprise success, landing in third with $18 million.

Elemental dropped from second to fourth with $9.6 million followed by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with $8 million.

The weekend’s other big new release, the raunchy comedy Joy Ride, opened in sixth with $5.9 million.
