The next time you go to a Dollar General store, you could start seeing items on sale for $2, $3, and even as much as $5. The most popular dollar store in the country is expanding its inventory, primarily in the grocery section, and that means more higher-priced items. The company made headlines back in 2019 when it announced it would be raising the price of some items to $1.25 and received a lot of backlash. But CEO Rick Dreiling says the negative feedback was short-lived and, beginning this past May, started offering pricier items in select stores. These include things like meats, breads, and ice creams. And although the initial reaction to the higher prices has been negative, the company says these items account for about 22% of their sales.
