- This isn't Trump's first indictment, and it might not be his last. He was indicted in June for mishandling classified information. Now, he's still facing scrutiny from Fulton County, Georgia, for his alleged attempts to overturn the election results in the state. An indictment could be on its way for that, too.
- Even though they're not named, the co-conspirators know who they are.
- The beginning of the indictment sums it up nicely. It says, "Despite having lost, the defendant was determined to remain in power.”
Former president Donald Trump has been indicted as the result of an investigation into his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump received a 45-page indictment from the grand jury that outlines four separate charges — including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to impede the Jan 6th congressional hearings, conspiracy against the right to vote and have that vote counted, and obstruction of the certification of the electoral vote.
There are six unnamed co-conspirators mentioned in the indictment. (NBC News)
Conspiracy charges typically carry a five-year prison sentence, while obstruction charges can carry up to 20 years. Judge Tanya S. Chutkan has been randomly assigned to the case. (The New York Times)
