Can’t catch up … Did you get plenty of sleep over the weekend? If you’re sleep deprived during the week, it probably didn’t help. Whether it’s work, school, stress, scrolling, or all of the above, many of us don’t get enough sleep during the week. And many of us hope to make up for it on the weekend. But a study from Penn State found that no matter how much sleep you get on the weekend, it won’t make up for lack of sleep during the week – especially when it comes to your heart health. A number of heart measures, like heart rate and blood pressure, are affected when people get just five hours of sleep per night. And, according to researchers, trying to catch up on that lost sleep over the weekend isn’t enough to bring those heart measures back to normal.
