A shooting in Jacksonville, Florida is being treated as a hate crime after it left three Black people and one person dead at a Dollar General.
Around 1 p.m. on Saturday, a 21-year-old white man named Ryan Christopher Palmeter entered the Dollar General store with a bulletproof vest on. He shot 11 rounds at a car, killing the person inside, and then shot two people inside the store. Witnesses say he had a handgun and an AR-15 with swastika markings. When the police got to the store, they heard one last gunshot -- they believed it was the shot the gunman fired to kill himself.
Police discovered that both weapons used in the shooting were legally purchased earlier this year. They also found numerous pages of racist writings on his computer. The crime is currently being investigated as a hate crime. (The New York Times)
