Five mass shootings took place in the first four days of September.
Two people died and three were injured at a shooting in Birmingham, Alabama. When the victims arrived at the hospital, three of them were shot again in the parking lot, which damaged an emergency room door and a police car.
Four homicides took place in Atlanta, Georgia in less than 12 hours and other shootings took place in High Point, North Carolina, Galveston, Texas and Freeport, Illinois.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 484 mass shootings so far this year. Mass shootings are technically defined as any incident where four or more people are shot or killed. (ABC News)
