IN BLANKSTARE NEWS: United Airlines making boarding a little smoother

The airline is updating its boarding process to allow people with window seats to get on ahead of those with middle and aisle seats. Of course, all the first class, business class, military, disabled and other groups will still go first.

United Airlines is actually going to make boarding a little smoother … United Airlines announced a $1.14 billion profit in the third quarter of 2023, and apparently that has execs feeling a little magnanimous toward their customers. The airline is updating its boarding process to allow people with window seats to get on ahead of those with middle and aisle seats. Of course, all the first class, business class, military, disabled and other groups will still go first. But once you get into coach, going window-middle-aisle will keep people from having to get up and block the aisle to let someone in. It’ll speed things up and make the process a lot less chaotic. The one downside -- if you prefer an aisle seat, the overhead bins will probably be full before you get on, and you’ll have to gate check.
