A New Zealand woman is trying to sue her ex-boyfriend for breach of a verbal contract after he promised to drive her to the airport but never showed up. She claims he also promised to watch her dogs while she was out of town, but he never did that either. Justifiably, she dumped the guy, but she feels she deserves to be compensated for him breaching a contract. The lawsuit, which was filed in small claims court, is seeking $400 in damages for the cost of alternative transportation. The judge didn't need to hear much more and decided to dismiss the case, stating that verbal agreements for non-emergency rides do not constitute binding contracts under state law.
